Title: The Dragons, The Giant, The Women
Author: Wayétu Moore
Thoughts: This book is stunning, I don’t have any other words for it. It’s heart-wrenching and so, so beautiful. Moore’s story is one of survival, or resilience, of the fierce love between mother and child, of learning to exist as an African woman in America. The memoir follows Moore’s childhood in Liberia during the First Liberian Civil War, her time spent in Texas, and her eventual return to Liberia. Her writing is captivating and the narration more than does justice to her prose. I can’t say enough good things!
