Title: Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America

Author: Ibram X. Kendi

Thoughts: This. Was. So. Good. If you like learning about history (me) and enjoy learning about history as a way to contextualize the present (also me), then this is the book for you. Kendi explores literally centuries of American history as it relates to racism. I thought the way he pulled various characters from American history (and present) and used their specific stories helped make this book much more manageable and digestible. I recently listened to an NPR podcast about how this summer has been one of “racial reckoning” and I highly recommend Stamped from the Beginning if you’re searching for a historical explanation for current affairs.
