Book #66 of 2020 | The Organ Thieves by Chip Jones

Title: The Organ Thieves: The Shocking Story of the First Heart Transplant in the Segregated South

Author: Chip Jones

Thoughts: This was a fascinating listen! Part medical history, part social commentary, part exploration of racism in America. It follows the story of the first heart transplant in the United States—examining the medical advances that took place in order for this to happen—and the ensuing legal battles. It’s also a humbling reminder that when it comes to medical racism, we have a long way to go in this country.
