Title: Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America’s Heartland
Author: Jonathan M. Metzl
Thoughts: This was super interesting. It’s written as three separate case studies: gun control, healthcare, and education policy—and how policies around these three hot button issues shape both quality and length of life. Understanding the politics of racial resentment is, I think, key in understanding the current American political climate, and this book does an excellent job at explaining it!
