Book #71 of 2020 | The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

Title: The Poet X

Author: Elizabeth Acevedo

Thoughts: I am fully convinced that Elizabeth Acevedo can do no wrong. I loved everything about this. I chose to listen to the audiobook since the book is written in verse form and I’m so glad I did. Acevedo narrates it herself and parts of it are performed as slam poetry—it’s incredible. I only wish you could underline sentences while listening to the audiobook! I can’t recommend this highly enough.

Favorite Lines:
“I only know that learning to believe in the power of my own words has been the most freeing experience of my life. It has brought me the most light. And isn’t that what a poem is? A lantern glowing in the dark.”
