Title: The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African-American Culinary History in the Old South
Author: Michael W. Twitty
Thoughts: I always love an audiobook more when it’s narrated by the author—and The Cooking Gene was no exception. Twitty is such a great narrator and brings his story to live in such a rich way. This book was more scientific than I expected—he discussed genealogy way more than I anticipated for a book I thought was just about food—but it added such an interesting level to Twitty’s story.
